Being Active

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT

It is so crucial for children and adults to engage in some form of physical activities everyday to achieve and maintain good health. As a matter of fact, regular exercise has been linked to reducing the risks of chronic diseases like obesity. The Department of Human Health recommends that "adults should do at least 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) to 300 minutes (5 hours) a week of moderate-intensity." Of course, reaching the recommended time may be difficult, depending on each individual's situation. Beginners may also not feel comfortable starting an exercise regime right away. It's best to start small and increase your intensity over time. Aim for at least 30 minutes a day. It is better to do some form of physical activity than to do nothing at all.
