About Us
Making moderate lifestyle changes can have a significant impact on the health of Georgians. With this awareness, Governor Sonny Perdue in partnership with the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) has developed a statewide, science-based campaign to improve the wellbeing of Georgians. Governor Perdue has launched the Live Healthy Georgia campaign, a communications and grass roots outreach initiative that aims to raise awareness about chronic disease prevention. The campaign will provide Georgians with guidance on how to live healthier.
In support of this campaign, the Jones County Board of Commissioners is implementing a “Live Healthy Jones” initiative. Being that the county plays a role in the health of our community, we believe this initiative is vital to our community. We will have several partners assist us with this new initiative.
The goal of Live Healthy Jones is to promote healthy living and encourage citizens to make wise choices when it comes to their health. During the initial phase, we will focus on providing free discount prescription cards, health screens and encourage healthy living. The initial phase includes:
-
Making sure everyone has a free discount prescription card and is aware of the benefits.
-
Providing free health screenings for citizens and provide additional healthcare resources and referral if abnormal result are discovered.
-
Encourage citizens to enjoy our Parks and Recreation facilities throughout the community
By implementing Live Healthy Jones, we assist our citizens with their healthcare, promoting a healthy lifestyle and a higher quality of life.
